Jupiter, Ketu and Mars in Leo: The Fire Meets the Guru
The Celestial Event
Leo (Simha) is about to get crowded. Ketu has been in Leo since May 2025. On 31 October 2026 Jupiter (Guru) moves into Leo from Cancer, where it had been exalted since June. Twelve days later, on 12 November 2026, Mars (Mangal) also enters Leo.
For about three weeks, from 12 November to 5 December 2026, all three planets stand together in one sign. Ketu then leaves for Cancer on 5 December, and Jupiter and Mars stay on in Leo, though both will wander back and forth because of retrograde motion (explained below).
All dates use the sidereal (Lahiri) zodiac, as in Vedic astrology, and Indian Standard Time. The exact minute of a sign change varies slightly between ephemerides and ayanamsa settings, so treat the times as approximate.

Why Leo Matters
Leo is a fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun. It stands for the heart, authority, confidence, leadership, creativity and the need to be seen. It is the natural fifth house of the zodiac, the house of intelligence, children, romance, merit from past lives and speculation.
The Sun, Leo's ruler, is in Libra (its sign of debilitation) from 17 October to 16 November 2026. So the sign is receiving new guests just as its own lord is weak. It improves once the Sun moves into Scorpio on 16 November.
Jupiter and Mars are both friends of the Sun, so both are comfortable in Leo. Ketu, a detached shadow planet, is not.

What Jupiter Does
Jupiter is the Guru, the planet of wisdom, dharma, teachers, children, wealth, faith and expansion. It leaves Cancer, where it is exalted, and enters a friendly fire sign.
- Expands whatever it touches: Jupiter in Leo supports leadership, generosity, teaching, ethical authority, and creative or political ambition backed by good values.
- Watch the ego: Leo can turn Jupiter's confidence into pride and over-promising. Optimism is high; realism needs effort.
- Aspects: From Leo, Jupiter looks at Sagittarius (5th), Aquarius (7th) and Aries (9th). Those signs, and anyone with planets or the Lagna there, feel its blessing and guidance.
- Children, education and merit: As the natural significator of the fifth house, Jupiter in Leo highlights children, studies, mentoring and spiritual practice.
- Retrograde motion: From 13 December Jupiter turns back, so some plans started now return for review before they mature. Final results come when Jupiter re-enters Leo in June 2027.
What Ketu Does
Ketu is the headless shadow planet of detachment, past-life habits, spiritual insight and sudden endings. It has been working through Leo for eighteen months and is in its last weeks there.
- Strips away ego: In Leo, Ketu questions the need for applause, status and being at the centre. Many people have felt a pull towards quiet work, or disillusionment with titles.
- Joins Jupiter: Ketu with Jupiter is a classic combination for deep, intuitive and spiritual knowledge. It can also make faith feel dry or doubtful, and detach us from teachers and traditions.
- Magnifies the planet it meets: Ketu tends to take on the nature of the planet it sits with. Next to Mars, it adds a sharp, cutting, sudden edge to Mars's energy.
- Exit on 5 December: As Ketu leaves, the lessons of the Leo-Aquarius axis (self versus group, personal pride versus social purpose) begin to settle, and the Cancer-Capricorn axis takes over.
What Mars Does
Mars is the planet of energy, courage, anger, drive, property and siblings. It has just left Cancer, where it is debilitated, and enters Leo, a friend's sign, so it recovers strength.
- Action and courage: Mars in Leo gives a bold, proud, take-charge energy. It favours leadership, competition, sport, and standing up for oneself.
- Heat: Fire plus Mars is intense. Expect short tempers, ego clashes and risky behaviour. Take extra care with fire, vehicles, electricity and the heart.
- Aspects: From Leo, Mars looks at Scorpio (4th), Aquarius (7th) and Pisces (8th). Aquarius is also aspected by Jupiter, so both planets fall on the sign where Rahu sits until 5 December.
- Long stay: Mars normally stays about six weeks in a sign. Because of retrograde motion it will be in and around Leo from 12 November 2026 to July 2027, so its themes keep coming back.
Together: What the Combination Means
- Jupiter with Mars (Guru-Mangal): A recognised combination of wisdom with action. It supports principled courage, entrepreneurial moves and defending what is right. The caution is zeal: righteousness that becomes aggression.
- Jupiter with Ketu: Insight, renunciation and spiritual progress, with a risk of confusion, doubt or disconnection from established guides.
- Mars with Ketu: The most volatile pairing. Sudden moves, impatience, accidents, cuts and surgery need care, and so do disputes that flare up without warning.
- All three, 12 November to 5 December: A concentrated, fiery and karmic period. Good for decisive but well-considered action, courage, spiritual practice and leadership. Not good for ego battles, hasty decisions or taking risks with health and safety.
Impact on Each Sign (From Your Moon Sign)
The table counts the house of Leo from each Moon sign (Chandra Rashi). In classical transit (Gochar) rules, Jupiter does best in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses from the Moon. Mars and Ketu do best in the 3rd, 6th and 11th houses. Treat the notes as general tendencies, not guarantees.

- Hasty surgery, risky driving, and careless handling of fire or electricity, unless it is medically necessary and well planned.
- Big promises and large commitments made in the glow of Jupiter's optimism without checking the details.
- Speculation and high-risk investment.
What This Period is Good For

- Ketu: Meditation, feeding stray dogs, and visiting a Ganesha temple; avoid pride in spiritual practice.
- Mars: Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays, physical exercise to channel heat, donating red lentils (masoor dal), and slowing down before reacting.
- Surya (Leo's ruler): Offer water to the Sun at sunrise, and keep a steady morning routine.
Summary
From 31 October 2026 Jupiter brings wisdom and expansion into Leo, where Ketu is already asking us to let go of ego, and from 12 November Mars adds fire and courage. Ketu leaves on 5 December 2026, while Jupiter and Mars remain in and around Leo until July and November 2027. The best use of this period is to combine Mars's courage with Jupiter's judgement and Ketu's detachment: act boldly, but without pride.
