Ghat Chakra Calculator

Ghat (also spelled Ghaat) means "painful" or "harmful" — the Ghataka Chakra is a classical Vedic Muhurta table that assigns, to each of the 12 Janma Rashi (Moon signs), a specific lunar month, tithi-group, weekday, nakshatra, nitya yoga, karana, time-of-day prahar, and Moon-transit position (counted from that Rashi, separately for male and female natives) that are traditionally treated as unfavourable for that Rashi.

When today's live Panchanga matches one of your Rashi's Ghat values, that particular day or period is traditionally best avoided for starting new or important undertakings — travel, big decisions, agreements, and similar activities. Classical texts exempt marriage, upanayan, other mangal-karya, yagna, and pilgrimage from this restriction.

This first version checks Ghat Maas, Ghat Tithi (via the same five tithi-groups used on our Sarvatobhadra Chakra page), Ghat Vaar, Ghat Nakshatra, Ghat Yoga, Ghat Karana, and Ghat Chandra. Ghat Maas is derived from the Sun's current Rashi (a standard approximation); Prahar is shown for reference only and not yet included in the live check. We will refine this further based on feedback and additional cross-referencing.
