Jaimini Astrology Explained

Alongside the more familiar Parashari system (fixed planetary rulerships -- Venus always signifies marriage, Sun always signifies the soul), Vedic astrology has a second, older framework attributed to Maharishi Jaimini. Instead of fixed rules, it uses Chara Karakas -- dynamic significators based on each planet's exact degree, unique to every chart -- plus a parallel house system built from Arudha Padas (perception points) rather than actual planetary houses.

Jaimini techniques are especially valued for two things: identifying your soul's core purpose (Atmakaraka) and your spouse's nature (Darakaraka), and for an alternate, often very precise method of event timing (Chara Dasha).
